During a recent visit to Italy, we made an overnight trip to the beach town of Rimini, Italy, so that we could visit the nearby country of San Marino.
We stayed at the Best Western Hotel Nettunia, a 4-star hotel near the beach in the central area of Miramare, where Rimini and Riccione meet. From the Rimini Central Train Station, we had planned to take a taxi. The nice woman in the tourist office said, “that will cost 20 euros, take the bus right outside. So, we rode the public which dropped us right outside the door of the Hotel Nettunia after about a 20 minute ride
Here is a look inside our room located on the Hotel Nettunia’s second floor.
Since we visited on a rainy day in late November, we did not use the balcony that overlooks a courtyard. The bed in this room is not heavenly; it is hard. And the walls are thin. But we still had a good stay.
If we had visited during better weather, we might have enjoyed our balcony and/or the hot tub in the courtyard.
Interestingly, we chose this hotel in part because we had a Best Western gift card. The hotel also gave us a terrific rate that included breakfast.
When we inquired about using the gift card, we were told that we could use for “extras” such as dining in the restaurant, but not to pay for our room. We kept the gift card for another time.
One other unusual thing, the fine print on our reservation said the mini-bar was included. We ask the front desk to explain what that meant. “You can consumer whatever is in your mini-bar free of charge. That was a unique benefit!
The minibar was right under the television, and we enjoyed several waters, a soda and a beer.
Complimentary Wi-Fi was also included, which was a good thing because Mr. Jones ended up with a lot of work to handle.
This was a compact room, and the bathroom was also quite small.
We love heated towel racks. The shower was nice but tiny.
Here’s a look at the closet and the entry door into the room. Compact, but functional is how I’d describe it.
Best of all was the breakfast, included in our rate, starting with an incredible made-to-order cappuccino. The breakfast room server kept apologizing that the scrambled eggs would be ready soon. No need. Who needs eggs when there’s fruit, yogurt, pastries, cereal, breads, meats, cheeses, jams and a cappuccino adorned with a perfect chocolate heart?
We also enjoyed a nightcap in the first-floor bar. It had a terrific wine selection and a friendly staff.
