While cruising on Holland America’s Nieuw Amsterdam 7-Day Holiday cruise, we decided to check out the Friday night show called Recycled Percussion.
The show was billed as “Las Vegas headliner and stars of ‘America’s Got Talent’ bring their unique, high energy show exclusively to Holland America Line.” We were advised by a friend to check it out.
Upon entering the Showroom at Sea, we were each given a drum stick, a metal pan or a plastic container, and a set of ear plugs.
The Showroom filled up with everyone having a drum stick and something to bang with it to make noise.
This was not your typical entertainment on Holland America Line. We were instructed to beat our “instrument” whenever our color – blue, red, green or black – showed on the screen. We were both blue. It is amazing how much fun it is to make noise with drum stick and a metal bowl.
The group is made up of four percussionists — one dressed in blue, red, green and black.
The show includes terrific audience participation, and a few on-stage “volunteers”.
Recycled Percussion is high-energy fun for all ages. Even if you choose to wear the earplugs.
