I travel to the Washington D.C. area frequently, and when I have an early morning departure, I like to stay my last night in an airport hotel.
The Hilton at Washington Dulles Airport is one of my favorites. The hotel offers free parking, and a complimentary shuttle to the airport. I sometimes drop off my car at the rental car center the night before my departure, and then take the shuttle to the airport in the early a.m. hours. The hotel is about a 10 minute drive from the rental car center, and it is nice to avoid having to deal with the drop-off at 5 a.m. in the morning.
Here is a quick peek inside room 531. (I hadn’t noticed before but that door sign might need a little cleaning.)
Rooms at the Hilton Washington Dulles Airport Hotel are spacious and reasonably sound proof.
The desk works well for some productive late-night computer work or early morning conference calls.
The bed is comfortable, and I like the placement of the television. The night stands include good light for reading, and electrical plugs for charging your phone.
The closets are inside the bathroom – handy for steaming clothes but perhaps unwieldy if traveling with several folks in the room.
My bottom line on the Hilton Washington Dulles Airport Hotel
- I find the front desk staff is professional and pleasant.
- The executive lounge can get crowded but that is not unique to this hotel.
- The Cardinal Lounge and Restaurant in the lobby offers a nice variety of food, and is reasonably priced for DC hotel dining. Winston is a terrific bartender.
I’ve stayed at this hotel about six times during the past year, and I’ve never had a bad stay.
