A Look Inside the Hilton San Francisco Airport Bayfront Hotel

We found the Hilton San Francisco Airport Bayfront to be a good choice for a quick overnight stay when flying in from Hawaii and needing to stay overnight before connecting to our early flight the following morning.

There’s a shuttle bus that picked us up at SFO within 10 minutes of our call, and quickly delivered us to the hotel (along with several flight crews.)

Like many other travelers who were checking in late on a Sunday night, we were tired but hungry. The hotel restaurant was undergoing renovations and was closing early, but there was a temporary bar in the lobby that served a decent bar menu until 1 am.

Our room was 1103. Want to take a look inside?

The room was spacious and well-lit with a comfortable king bed.

The room seemed made for business travelers — with plenty of desk space, tons of electrical outlets and a big screen television.

As former San Franciscans, we loved the art over the bed and the bright reading lamps on each side. Five pillows meant that one of us came up one pillow short.

Even better, each side of the bed has a plug. Now why can’t all hotels that are a little older make this seemingly simply upgrade?

The bathroom is standard, but with good lighting and good toiletries.

As an added bonus, the early morning sunrise view from the window was spectacular.

The hotel is close enough to the airport to watch planes in their landing patterns.

Our bottom line on the Hilton San Francisco Airport Bayfront hotel:

  • It’s perfect for a quick overnight between flights at SFO.
  • It would also be an ideal base for an overnight visit to Silicon Valley with an early-morning SFO departure.
  • This is not a good hotel for being a tourist in San Francisco — take Bart or a cab to downtown San Francisco and enjoy the city.
  • The Executive Lounge is terrific.
  • If you are looking for a full meal late night, check before you book that the restaurant remodel is complete.
  • The hotel is a Hilton HONORS REWARD CATEGORY: 5.
